  11. This utility has been created for webmasters everywhere to create pages
  12. with the images contained in a folder/directory.
  13.  
  14. I originally developed it to display pictures I downloaded from the
  15. Internet and help me choose some of these to be used on the ScreenSaver
  16. Directory.

  18. I have made it available for people who have large numbers of images and
  19. would like to see them on a single page.
  20.  
  21. I have not done a lot of testing on it, so I recommend only using it if
  22. you are confident that it won't do anything to your computer. There is
  23. actually nothing inside that writes to the registry, and the only time
  24. it will write to the hard drive is to create the images page.
  25.  
  26. It is available for free, but if you are going to distribute any pages
  27. created by the program, I would like you to keep the small notice at the
  28. bottom of the page in tact.
  29.  
  30. Image Page Wizard should work with Windows 95, 98 and NT, although it
  31. has not been tested under the NT environment.

  34. Installation
  35. ============
  36.  
  37. It is important to remove previous versions of Image Page Wizard before
  38. installing this version, especially if the previous version was a BETA
  39. version. Uninstallation can be performed just by deleting the files you
  40. placed in a folder and deleting icons which you created.
  41.  
  42. If you have downloaded the .exe version of Image Page Wizard, just run
  43. the file and follow the on-screen instructions. If you downloaded the
  44. .zip version, extract all the files in the archive to the folder you
  45. would like it installed.

  47. To set up shortcuts, run Image Page Wizard and click on Technical
  48. Support Wizard. In the Technical Support Wizard, click on Install and
  49. the install module will start. The install module will allow you to
  50. create shortcuts in various places on your computer.

  53. How to use it
  54. =============
  55.  
  56. To start Image Page Wizard, click on Start Menu and Run...
  57. Type in "C:\Program Files\Image Page Wizard\imgpage.exe", altering the
  58. path if you installed to a different folder/drive. I would recommend
  59. when running Image Page Wizard for the first time, to follow the
  60. instructions in the Installation section above to create shortcuts for
  61. Image Page Wizard.

  63. You just type in the folder which contains the images or browse for it
  64. using the Browse button and then click OK!

  67. File Types and Support
  68. ======================

  70. Image Page Wizard currently only recognises BMP, GIF, JPEG, WMF and DIB
  71. files. I will add support for other file types on request, after
  72. testing. To request types, check the table below to check whether the
  73. type has been tested. If the file type is not on the list, e-mail me
  74. with the type, and a small small sample image in that type, which is
  75. up to 50 KB in size.

  99. Due to the integration of Microsoft Internet Explorer with the Windows
  100. Operating System and other applications, I can not be 100% sure
  101. that your version will read the same file types as I have.
  102.

  105.  Plugin Reqd. There is a plugin available, and the browser downloads
  106. plugin on approval. With plugins, unsupported images may appear as
  107. broken. To view the image, right click on the broken image, select
  108. "View Image" and select "Open" making sure "Open OLE Server in-place"
  109. is also selected. Click on OK. These images may open on it's own page.

  111.  (Plugin?) There may be plugins available for browsers to display the
  112. types supported by neither browser, and if you do find any such plugin,
  113. please contact me with the details so I can implement support into
  114. Image Page Wizard.

  117. Advanced Options
  118. ================

  120. The first drop-down list in the advanced options panel allows you to
  121. select the name of the HTML file you'd like to create. Available names:
  122.  
  123.  !0images.htm  - (Default) This file usually appears as the first file in
  124.                 a folder listing.
  125.  
  126.  index.htm     - This is the type to choose if you are uploading to the
  127.                 Internet.
  128.  
  129.  *.htm         - This option allows you to specify your own file name.
  130.                 Just enter the name and not the extension. My tests have
  131.                 shown that file names with spaces are supported.

  134. Uninstalling
  135. ============
  136.  
  137. 1) Run Image Page Wizard.
  138. 2) Click on Technical Support Wizard.
  139. 3) Click on Uninstall.
  140.  
  141. The uninstall module starts and allows you to delete all the Image Page
  142. Wizard parts. If you want to uninstall certain parts (i.e. You don't
  143. want Start Menu icons), run Install.
  144.  
  145. To complete the uninstall you must restart Windows. The final file will
  146. be deleted the next time Windows is started, as the uninstaller can not
  147. uninstall files in use.

  150. Known Problems
  151. ==============

  153. * Files with spaces are now recognised, but if uploading to the
  154.  Internet, images will not show as most servers can not handle file
  155.  names with spaces.
  156.  
  157. * Sometimes, Image Page Wizard may create a HTML page with few or no
  158.  images. If this happens, try again a couple of times, and then if Image
  159.  Page Wizard still is not creating the correct page, e-mail support.

  200. * Allow Image Page Wizard to create browser specific documents. As both
  201.  Netscape and Microsoft browsers do not agree on displaying the same
  202.  images, the ability to create HTML files displaying the files your
  203.  browser will understand.

  206.  to be uploaded to the Internet. Probably will be replaced with
  207.  underscores, or removed.

  243. If you do get a problem the first thing to do is get the version number
  244. and compile date. This can be done by clicking on About on the dialog.

  246. There is now a technical support wizard which will help you send
  247. descriptive information to me, that will help me solve your problem
  248. quicker. This will be updated over versions, and hopefully will be able
  249. to give you tools to compile the e-mail asking for support.
